The Water may be high but all programs continue to operate including our camp programs at rouge Beach
Lake Ontario is currently facing high water levels and both the City of Toronto and City of Pickering have blocked vehicular access to both of our club sites. Our Rouge Beach clubhouse and equipment were not effected by the high water.
We have a plan in place to ensure a safe and dry path for our campers to reach our Rouge Beach camp location. This year we will have two drop-off and pick-up locations. The first drop-off location is at the Rouge Hill Go Train Station and the second drop-off location is on Bella Vista Dr. in Pickering.
Programs also continue to operate as normal from our Pickering location on Frenchman’s Bay. The City of Pickering has blocked the eastern portion of Beach Point Promenade. To access the club you will need to park in the city parking lot, and walk down the road to the club. Please enter the trailers from the east side.

Pickering Rouge Canoe Club
The PRCC is proud to bring back the PaddleSports program for the 2016 season. The PaddleSport program aims to introduce teenagers aged 15-18 to the variety of available disciplines making up sprint canoe/kayak. The program is led by current Canadian National Team member, Scott Barclay, who paddled at Rouge from 2007-2010. He will be assisted throughout the summer by PRCC’s assistant coach, Jaclyn Gardiner, in teaching members the basics of canoe/kayak. No experience is necessary to take part! We hope to see you on the bay this summer!
Scott Barclay Bio:
Scott began paddling at PRCC in the summer of 2007 at the age of 15. Scott developed a passion for kayaking quickly, and spent the first 4 years of his paddling career training and competing for PRCC. Since then, Scott has gone on to train and compete all across Canada. He has accumulated a wealth of career accomplishments thus far including multiple national championship medals. He earned a spot as a member of Team Ontario at Canada Summer Games team in 2013, where he collected a bronze medal with his teammates. He has been a member of Canada’s national development program for the past three years, and in the fall of 2015 was named to Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team for sprint kayak. Scott is very excited to be coaching a program at PRCC very similar to the one he started in 9 years ago.
“I hope to help develop a passion for canoe/kayak for my athletes like the great coaches I had did for me years ago. There is no better way to spend your summer then on the bay paddling!”
Jaclyn Gardiner Bio:
Jaclyn started paddling when she was 9 years old in her home town of Carleton Place, ON. Jaclyn quickly developed a love for the sport, continuing full time training and part-time coaching throughout her high school and university education. She is a decorated paddler at the Canadian National Championships. A full-time kayaker, Jaclyn won many medals at the Nationals during her career in multiple team boat disciplines. Not only has she won medals in kayak, she also holds the Canadian record in Senior Woman’s C2 1000m, displaying her abilities as an all around paddler. Jaclyn has been assistant head coach at PRCC for the past two years. PRCC is excited for her to bring her passion and knowledge of the sport to the PaddleSports Program.
The Pickering Rouge Canoe Club is very excites to be hosting it’s annual U15 fun regatta at our West Rouge Beach location in Scarborough. It will be a day of fun competition, so we hope you can make it out to support the club’s young paddlers.
The coaches meeting will start at 7:30 and races will begin at 8:30.
Remember to bring a regatta tent because shade is scarce on our beautiful oasis in the city.
